Sans-Serif Typefaces

Sans-serif fonts lack the flourishes at the end of their strokes that define serif typefaces.

Design Uses

For print, san-serif typefaces are generally used for headlines and, less frequently, as body text because the lack of serifs makes the fonts more difficult to read at smaller sizes. However, for computer applications, san-serif fonts are often preferred for body text since serif fonts are more difficult to render at small sizes and low screen resolutions.

The sans-serif fonts presented here are recommended for use as body text and, in the case of the bolder fonts, as display and headline type.

Note: All font samples were produced in a standard manner and size. The differences you see (such as chopped text) are the result of design differences between typefaces.
